"Sleepy Hollow"

Already debuting, it is a modern retelling of Washington Irving’s classic “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. In this version, Ichabod Crane has traveled through time ala “Doctor Who” so he has to deal with the culture clash of past and present.

The premise sounds intriguing. However, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have been hit and miss throughout their careers, recently co-writing the underwhelming “Star Trek Into Darkness”. Len Wiseman, the director behind the “Underworld” movies, promises to give the show the gothic edge it needs.

Premiere Date: September 16, 2012 – Airs Mondays @ 9 p.m.

"Wayward Pines"

After struggling with the box office reception of his latest film projects, M. Night Shyamalan has regrouped to deliver a moody mystery series. The plot is drawing early comparisons to uber-cult classic “Twin Peaks”. It follows a Secret Service agent (Matt Dillon) who travels to Wayward Pines, Idaho in search of two missing federal agents.

Shyamalan has accrued an impressive cast, led by Matt Dillon; he is joined by Carla Gugino (“Californication”), Terrence Howard (“Dead Man Down”) and Melissa Leo (“The Fighter”) to name a few. While, Shyamalan’s controversial movie career has met with mixed to negative reviews, a series might be where he finds his greatest success. He is a skilled storyteller whose slow-burn style is more befitting of TV.

"Rake"

The marvelous Greg Kinnear ("Little Miss Sunshine") is the series lead of this adaptation of the Australian series of the same name. It centers on the character Keegan Deene, a self-destructive lawyer who has to contend with everyone in his life.

Kinnear has long been one of Hollywood’s most underappreciated talents and it’s going to be wonderful to see him in a starring role. This part promises a lot of layers for the always charismatic Kinnear to play. As a comedy-drama it’ll run the gamut of his range, one that isn’t complacent in a specific genre.

"Us & Them"

A single-camera comedy, it’s an American remake of Britain’s “Gavin and Stacey”. The plot centers on the romance that develops between Gavin (Jason Ritter) and Stacey (Alexis Bledel) during a six month online relationship, after which, they finally meet.

Blending their lives together, after living long-distance, proves to have its separate share of tribulations. Executive produced by the mega talented Steve Coogan, his name alone is worth giving this a gander. Led by the charismatic Bledel and Ritter, they have enough charm to anchor a show hinging on their chemistry.
