There is no other obvious connection between the Top 5. The popularity of specific themes seems to vary. Indie drama “Berlin Syndrome” and Antonio Banderas starrer “Security” are both thrillers. The former a psychological take on the genre and the latter a louder action-oriented thriller.
Romance shows up twice with the films “Sadece Sen” and “Carrie Pilby” both making the cut. While “Sadece Sen” focuses on a central romance, “Carrie Pilby” delves into romantic entanglements, and the relationship that comes to the fore between Carrie and her paramour is very compelling.
Fun Fact Stat:
Out of the Top 5, two of the movies are adaptations of novels. “Carrie Pilby” is based on the novel of the same name by Caren Lissner and “Berlin Syndrome” is based on the precisely titled book by Melanie Joosten.
“Security” and “The Getaway Plan” are both based on original screenplays, and according to IMDB; “Sadece Sen” is a remake of the Korean film “Always.”
And the Runner-Up is…
“Fifty Shades Darker” barely missed the Top 5. Eclectic Pop’s positive take on the erotic drama ran in contrast to mainstream critics’. As of this article’s publication, IMDB shows the movie’s Metascore at a 33.
The third and final film in the provocative franchise is set to be released in the U.S. on February 9, 2018, and it will be interesting to see if “Fifty Shades Freed” will break into 2018’s Most-Read. Back in 2015, “Fifty Shades of Grey” missed the Top 15 Most-Read Movie Reviews. The review of its sequel “Fifty Shades Darker” had double the readers of the original film.
Will “Fifty Shades Freed” have triple that number? Stay tuned. On a related note, "Fifty Shades Darker" did make Eclectic Pop's list of the Best Movies of 2017. As did 3 out of the 5 movies, that's review made 2017's Top 5 Most-Read.

Special Movie Mentions
Having watched over 55 films in 2017 (some released in 2017 and others well-before), it was next to impossible to write a review for each of them. So were there any movies worth mentioning that didn’t get reviewed or selected in Eclectic Pop’s list of the Best Films of 2017? Yes, and they are “Black Butterfly,” “Sleep Tight,” “I.T.” and “Solace.”
