Now, the window of when to expect Season 3 has narrowed. Update: “Medici” has a premiere date. It will be released May 1 on Netflix in the U.S.! You can read the original version of this story below. It includes some details about what you can expect when Season 3 premieres.
The third season is “coming soon” according to the official Twitter page for “Medici.” It is tough to know how that timeframe relates to Netflix’s release.
The show traditionally airs in Italy, first. Still, soon is a good sign for the proximity of the drama’s eventual premiere on Netflix. Unfortunately, there is a downside to the happy headline regarding the series' impending premiere.

Season 3 is the Final Season
The account’s announcement also confirms that Season 3 will be the last season of “Medici.” Yes, the show is ending with its upcoming installment. A bittersweet touch to the exciting news that the third season is on its way.As expansive and vibrant as the series’ subject is that is a bitter pill. If you have read up on House Medici on Wikipedia, you know that the family’s tale provides no shortage of story opportunities. As fans of “Reign” are well aware, the family’s influence echoes past Lorenzo’s lifetime.
It will be interesting to see how Lorenzo de’ Medici's eventful final chapter is told. To say it is a thrilling tale would be an understatement of gargantuan proportions. I would suggest watching the show first without reading about his history, though.
Season 3 Cast
“Medici” will return with many familiar faces and some new ones. John Lynch will star in Season 3, per the show's Twitter account. Having enjoyed his work on the Netflix thriller “The Fall” (among other projects) I am excited to see what he gets up too. “Medici” has always given a robust platform for actors. You can check out Lynch in-character via the tweet below:Some alliances mean more than others.— Medici: The Magnificent (@MediciSeries) September 21, 2019

The loves of Lorenzo (and Lorenzo himself) will be back! His wife and former lover will be among the Season 2 cast returning, per the show's Twitter account. Alessandra Mastronardi’s return as Lucrezia is unexpected yet welcome news. It will be interesting to learn what Lorenzo’s former flame gets up too.
The picture featured on the series’ Twitter page indicates she may be in mourning. Has her husband passed away? Stay tuned. You can check it out below:

Which route would you pick?

Hopefully, Lorenzo’s days of cheating on his wife are over. Lucrezia potentially being single has me a bit worried. Lorenzo’s relationship with Clarice was in a good place when “Medici” left off. Hopefully, he can resist any temptation. I adore what “Medici” created between he and Clarice last season and want it to last.
What to Expect in Season 3
Lorenzo took a scorched earth policy to his enemies in the Season 2 finale of “Medici.” He left his sister’s Pazzi husband alive. Will that come back to bite him? I do not know. It was sad to see things end that way between Lorenzo and his sister. However, I do not think there is any way back after her choices.I cannot wait to behold what the show has in store. “Medici” is an impeccable costume drama that caters to every genre front you can imagine. Unlike Season 2, “Medici” will sail into its third season with the same central protagonist.
Lorenzo was a fun character to watch, and as he enters the next stage of his power, you can bet some drama is going to happen. Hopefully, there will be lots of romance, intrigue, and of course, binge-worthy cliffhangers. I am ready for it!
The first two seasons of “Medici” are currently streaming on Netflix. Season 3 does not have an official release date, so stay tuned. My guess is for an early 2020 premiere for Netflix. You can hear me rave about the second season as a guest on The Lost Cause Podcast here.
