When is Season 8 premiering?
Hallmark has revealed that Season 8 of “When Calls the Heart” will premiere on Sunday, February 21, 2020, at 9 p.m. ET, and there is more good news! Hearties will be getting two extra episodes next season. Thus bringing Season 8’s episode total from the standard ten (10) to a terrific twelve (12). You can check out Season 8’s key art below:

The teaser for the upcoming season mentions “more surprises” and “challenges” for those living in Hope Valley. Hearties will have to stay tuned to learn what exactly that entails for their favorite characters, and that is not the only exciting news. “When Calls the Heart” will be making up for its Christmas movie miss with more drama set to play out within Season 8’s official confines.
About Those Bonus Episodes
In a sign of how much this show appreciates its fans, it is going above and beyond by giving them two extra episodes. The news comes after Hallmark Channel revealed that Hearties would have to go without the series’ annual Christmas movie. Hence, the extra-episodes development should be a relief for those who usually have to wait from April until December for more of “When Calls the Heart.”
Now, fans will get to see everything play out without having to wait eight months to catch back up with the denizens of Hope Valley. I would like to imagine Hearties’ hearts getting a bit fuller at that prospect. The series’ latest season finished airing this past April. Thankfully, the cast has kept fans updated as they got to work on Season 8.
Romance Is In The Air
It is interesting that “When Calls the Heart” will have just missed Valentine’s Day when Season 8 premieres next year. The holiday often brings “hearts” to mind. It is one of the cupid-themed day’s largest symbols. On that note, Elizabeth may be on the verge of settling her currently triangular love story. Erin Krakow has strongly hinted that Elizabeth will choose someone next season. Here it is straight from Krakow’s Instagram:
Oh and btw - Elizabeth won’t have to hug herself much longer... 😉
Will it be Nathan and Lucas? Based on what Erin Krakow is saying, Season 8 could be the one to reveal where the triple-sided romance (think “Far From the Madding Crowd”) will take the widowed mother. Personally, it is understandable that Elizabeth is taking her time deciding after losing her husband, Jack, back in Season 5. Three seasons later, fans are ready for her to find happiness again.
How to Catch Up On Past Seasons
If you are wondering where you can catch up on last season, Hallmark has you covered. The network’s streaming platform, Hallmark Movies Now, will begin streaming Season 7 the day after Christmas on Saturday, December 26. That announcement comes as What’s On Netflix reports that Netflix will be losing the first five seasons of “When Calls the Heart” from its slate on January 25, 2021.
So, if you want to start binge-watching “When Calls the Heart” time is running out for Netflix subscribers to do so. Once the Hallmark Channel gets done with its Holiday programming, it could theoretically decide to air re-runs from past seasons. But I have no confirmation that will assuredly happen. Stay tuned because Hallmark will eventually reveal its schedule.
To Quickly Recap
As of December 2020, you can start binge-watching the beloved TV show on Netflix. To recap, you can tune in on Sunday, February 21, 2020, at 9 p.m. ET for the Season 8 premiere of “When Calls the Heart.” Something tells me that it is going to be worth the wait. In the meantime, Hearties can try to catch the series’ stars in this year’s Hallmark Christmas movie offerings.
