“Midnight at the Pera Palace” (“Pera Palas'ta Gece Yarısı”) is coming back for Season 2! You are not the only one surprised by that sentence. It has been more than two years since Season 1 premiered on Netflix. Sadly, fans did not go through a time travel portal to wait out the gap between seasons. Their patience has paid off, though.

Cut to 2024, and “Midnight at the Pera Palace” Season 2 is set to premiere on September 12 on Netflix. Prepare for more adventures with Esra (Hazal Kaya) and Ahmet (Tansu Biçer) in the lavish period piece. Please check out the trailer for Season 2 below:

The “Midnight at the Pera Palace” Season 2 trailer shows Esra and Ahmet time-traveling to 1941. Esra takes this as a sign that fate wants her to meet her mom. Meanwhile, Halit joins the time-traveling mischief as women also begin disappearing.

If you recall, Season 1 left the dynamic duo in more than a bit of a pickle. The ending transported Esra and Ahmet back to a Pera Palace hotel room in 1995, and they were not alone.

Season 1 Ending, Explained

A red-headed baby was inside, which Esra took into her arms. So, why were they transported to this day in 1995? What is its significance? Ahmet quickly realized it was the day he became manager of the Pera Palace, and there was one more thing. The staff discovered a seemingly abandoned baby.

A scrambled Ahmet explained that the hotel could not find the baby’s parents despite its desperate attempts. Listening to Ahmet, Esra put the pieces together. Esra realized the baby she was holding was herself! Baby Esra.

There Will Be a Season 2

So, what have we learned? If you are enduring a seemingly endless wait for another season of a TV series – keep the faith. There may be more on the horizon after all. Not all series return as quickly as “Maestro in Blue,” which returned a little over a year later with its second season in May.

The good news is that while you await the return of “Midnight at the Pera Palace,” there are plenty of Turkish dramas to keep you company. My recent favorite has been “Why Were We Running From?” - a haunting suspense tale with stunning visuals. (A one-season binge perfect for a long weekend.)

“Midnight at the Pera Palace” Season 2 premieres September 12 at 3 am ET on Netflix.
