If you are curious if firebrand Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) survives the ending of “Yellowstone” – you may have gotten a huge clue. The potential spoiler regards the life-or-death fate of Beth when the series wraps what is so far - its final episodes. It is one of the pieces for fans to put together in the lead-up to the neo-Western’s Season 5 Part 2 premiere.

As it stands, the final episodes of Season 5 are set to be the last for “Yellowstone.” Or are they? Back in August, Deadline reported that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were in soft talks to return for a potential Season 6. (Another season remains a big “question mark.”) Now, Kelly Reilly has confirmed Season 6 discussions to EW, saying:

“There’s potentially another chapter. It’s being talked about now. Nothing is set in stone. […] This story is ending. [“Yellowstone”] as we know it is ending, but if there is more story to tell with some of the characters, it's going to be a little different.”

“Yellowstone” talking to Kelly Reilly about Beth and Season 6 should only mean one thing. Beth Dutton will survive the remaining episodes of Season 5 aka the current end of the series. How else can you really interpret Reilly’s negotiations?

While Kelly Reilly did not confirm the involvement of her co-star, Cole Hauser, in the talks to EW - it makes sense that Hauser is. Deadline reporting that Hauser was in discussions along with Reilly indicates Rip is still among the living when the dust on Season 5 settles.

Assuming Beth is not going to be featured in flashbacks or as a ghost, Kelly Reilly confirming Season 6 discussions should mean watching worry-free regarding John’s seemingly indestructible daughter. Does the news indicate that Beth survives Season 5 completely unscathed?

Not necessarily.

When you consider Beth’s plans at the end of “Yellowstone” Season 5’s first set of episodes, Beth’s future is shaky. In other words, prison does not feel like an unlikely set of circumstances for Beth to face. Rip’s (better?) half already got arrested earlier in the season, so run-ins with the law are not foreign to her.

In the meantime, the future of the original “Yellowstone” remains unknown. Season 6 has not been announced. If there is one, it sounds as though the show knows interest in continuing Beth and Rip’s story remains vital to it. This is good news for fans of the beloved couple.

When you consider that Beth and Rip are two of the series’ cornerstone characters, this is a hopeful sign for the quality of a potential Season 6. The vacuum John Dutton’s absence will leave requires a heavy backfill. It is one better infused with familiar faces than new ones. And whether you love her or hate her, Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton is the fiery spine of “Yellowstone.”

So, as wild as it is to imagine “Yellowstone” without Kevin Costner’s John Dutton - it is unimaginable to think of it continuing without Beth. Kelly Reilly has carved herself a slice of TV immortality with her performance as John’s only daughter. Since Costner will not be back for any (yes, you read correctly) of Season 5’s final episodes – fans will get a taste of what Season 6 might be like.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the original “Yellowstone,” it is nice to know we should not have to worry about Beth meeting her demise. While Kelly Reilly only speaks about her “Yellowstone” character, earlier reports about Cole Hauser’s Rip being in negotiations indicate husband and wife survive the current finale. Beth and Rip are soulmates. Where she goes, he roams.

Remember, the final episodes of “Yellowstone” Season 5 are slated to begin airing weekly on Sunday, November 10, at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount Network via Philo.
